Designed for the Way Michigan Families Enjoy the Water

Michigan is home to more freshwater shoreline than any other state, with more than 11,000 inland lakes and access to four of the five Great Lakes. For generations, families have gathered at cottages, lake homes, and waterfront retreats to boat, fish, swim, entertain, and create lasting memories. Waterfront ownership isn’t simply a place to spend the summer—it’s a lifestyle that often spans generations.

That lifestyle also brings unique challenges. Michigan’s waterfront properties experience spring ice-out, changing lake levels, busy boating seasons, fall dock removal, and long northern winters. Your dock and boat lift need to perform reliably through every stage of the season while protecting both your boat and your investment.

FLOE premium aluminum dock systems and boat lifts are engineered specifically for these conditions. Their modular design allows homeowners to adapt to changing shorelines and expand their waterfront over time, while corrosion-resistant aluminum construction provides long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance. Whether your home overlooks Torch Lake, Lake Charlevoix, Walloon Lake, Higgins Lake, Gull Lake, Gun Lake, or one of Michigan’s thousands of inland lakes, FLOE helps simplify waterfront ownership so you can spend less time maintaining your equipment and more time enjoying the water.

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, FLOE systems are designed to fit your shoreline, your boat, and the way your family enjoys the lake. From seasonal cottages to year-round lakefront homes, every dock and lift system can be configured to create a safe, functional, and beautiful waterfront designed to last for years to come.

Local Expertise, Backed by Michigan's Trusted FLOE Partner

Choosing the right dock or boat lift is about more than selecting equipment—it’s about working with experienced professionals who understand Michigan waterfronts. For years, FLOE and Great Lakes Marine (GLM) distributorship have partnered with specialized shorefront equipment dealers to help homeowners throughout Michigan design dock and lift systems that perform reliably in northern lake conditions.

As FLOE’s trusted Michigan distribution partner, Great Lakes Marine provides local expertise, product guidance, and dealer support from its Grand Rapids and Gaylord locations. Their team understands the unique challenges of Michigan’s diverse waterfronts—from the crystal-clear waters of Northern Michigan to busy recreational lakes and Great Lakes shoreline properties—and can help recommend a system that fits your property, boat, and long-term plans.

Whether you’re replacing an aging dock, upgrading to a premium boat lift, or building a new lakefront retreat, FLOE and Great Lakes Marine and select retail dealer partners work together to make the process straightforward. From planning and product selection to installation guidance and ongoing support, you’ll have access to knowledgeable professionals committed to helping you get the most from your waterfront investment.

Why Michigan Waterfront Owners Choose FLOE

Whether your waterfront home is a seasonal cottage in Northern Michigan, a year-round residence on the Oakland County lakes such as Orchard, Cass and Sylvan lakes, or a family retreat on one of Michigan’s thousands of inland lakes, your dock and boat lift need to perform through changing seasons and years of use. FLOE systems are engineered specifically for northern waterfront environments, helping homeowners spend less time maintaining equipment and more time enjoying life on the lake.

BUILT FOR NORTHERN WINTERS

Michigan winters can be demanding. Ice, snow, fluctuating temperatures, and seasonal freeze-thaw cycles place significant stress on waterfront equipment. FLOE’s removable dock systems are designed for straightforward seasonal removal and storage, helping protect your investment while simplifying spring installation and fall removal. Marine-grade aluminum construction resists corrosion and stands up to the challenging conditions that Michigan waterfront owners experience every year.

HANDLES CHANGING WATER LEVELS

Water levels can vary from season to season and from one lake to another. FLOE’s modular dock systems are designed to adapt to changing shoreline conditions while maintaining stability and performance. Adjustable legs, configurable layouts, and expandable sections allow homeowners to customize their dock for their property’s unique shoreline and make modifications as their needs evolve.

LOW-MAINTENANCE OWNERSHIP

Your time at the lake should be spent boating, fishing, swimming, and making memories—not maintaining your dock. FLOE’s premium aluminum construction won’t rust, rot, or require the regular staining, painting, or repairs often associated with traditional wood docks. With minimal maintenance requirements and durable construction, FLOE systems are built to provide dependable performance season after season.

EXPANDABLE DESIGN

Waterfront needs often change over time. Whether you’re purchasing a larger boat, adding a second watercraft, creating additional seating areas, or expanding your shoreline entertainment space, FLOE’s modular dock systems make it easy to grow with your lifestyle. Accessories and additional dock sections can be added as your family’s needs evolve, protecting your investment for years to come.

Sturdy, strong, long lasting, well built. It is a hanging type. So bottom supports must be out of the water with the boat on the lift. For some reason battery charge does not last very long during the season.
Response from the owner:Thank you for the feedback! We're happy to hear your lift has proven to be sturdy, strong, and well built. We also appreciate you sharing your experience with the battery performance. Input from owners like you is valuable, and we're grateful you took the time to leave a review.

After purchasing a lake home in 2023, I knew I needed a dock. I attended several boat shows, investigated websites and literature, and talked to people. After my analysis, I choose a Floe dock. The 360 degree turn chairs and small table are great. Very comfortable. I’m very happy that I chose a Floe dock. Rob
Response from the owner:Thank you for the thoughtful review, Rob! We know there are a lot of options out there, so it means a lot to hear that after all your research, you chose FLOE. We're glad you're enjoying the dock, chairs, and table, and we hope they provide the perfect place to relax and enjoy your lake home for years to come.

Trusted by Waterfront Owners Across Michigan

FLOE systems are trusted by homeowners throughout Michigan’s most desirable waterfront communities, including:

  • Torch Lake
  • Lake Charlevoix
  • Walloon Lake
  • Burt Lake
  • Mullett Lake
  • Higgins Lake
  • Gull Lake
  • Gun Lake
  • Elk Lake
  • Hamlin Lake

Michigan’s diverse lakes each offer a unique waterfront experience, but they all share one thing in common—the need for dependable dock and boat lift systems that can withstand changing seasons while enhancing life on the water.

Every Michigan lake has its own unique characteristics. Water depth, bottom conditions, seasonal water levels, wave action, and shoreline slope all play a role in determining the right dock and boat lift system. Working with an experienced local dealer helps ensure your waterfront is designed specifically for your property’s conditions and the way your family enjoys the lake.

The Michigan Waterfront Season, Start to Finish

Owning a waterfront property in Michigan means experiencing four distinct seasons, each bringing new opportunities—and new responsibilities. FLOE dock and boat lift systems are designed to make every stage of the boating season easier, from spring installation through fall removal, so you can focus on enjoying your time at the lake.

Prepare for a New Season on the Water

As the ice disappears and lake communities come back to life, it’s time to prepare your waterfront for another season. FLOE’s removable dock systems and premium boat lifts are engineered for efficient seasonal installation, allowing homeowners to get on the water sooner.

Spring is also an excellent time to expand your dock layout, add new accessories, or upgrade your boat lift before peak boating season begins.

Make the Most of Every Day at the Lake

Michigan summers are meant for boating, fishing, swimming, paddleboarding, and spending time with family and friends. FLOE dock systems create a safe, comfortable gathering space while premium boat lifts help protect your investment between outings.

Whether you’re enjoying weekends on Torch Lake, entertaining on Lake Charlevoix, or spending every evening on Higgins Lake, FLOE helps make your waterfront more functional and enjoyable.

Prepare for Winter with Confidence

As temperatures cool and boating season comes to a close, FLOE’s removable dock systems simplify seasonal removal and storage. Proper fall removal helps protect your investment from ice movement, harsh winter weather, and unnecessary wear while making spring installation easier.

It’s also an ideal time to evaluate improvements for next season, including additional dock sections, seating areas, or boat lift upgrades.

Protect Your Investment and Plan Ahead

Michigan winters offer the perfect opportunity to plan future waterfront improvements. Whether you’re designing a new dock layout, upgrading your current boat lift, or preparing for a new boat next spring, winter planning allows you to be ready when boating season returns.

Working with Great Lakes Marine during the off-season also provides more time to discuss options, compare configurations, and create a dock and lift system tailored to your property’s needs.

Michigan Waterfront Insights

Michigan is home to more than 11,000 inland lakes and boasts more freshwater shoreline than any other state. While that creates incredible opportunities for waterfront living, it also means no two shorelines are exactly alike.

Water depth, bottom composition, wave action, prevailing winds, seasonal water level changes, and shoreline slope all influence which dock and boat lift system will perform best. A solution that’s ideal for a protected inland lake may not be the right fit for a larger recreational lake.

That’s why FLOE works closely with experienced local partners like Great Lakes Marine to help homeowners choose the right dock and boat lift system for their property’s unique conditions. By combining innovative engineering with local knowledge of Michigan’s inland lakes, homeowners can feel confident they’re investing in a solution designed for years of dependable waterfront enjoyment.

Whether you’re building your first lake home, replacing an aging dock, or investing in your forever waterfront property, thoughtful planning today can provide years of dependable performance and enjoyment.
